Live Artifacts, not static reports

“Build the artifact once. Open it whenever. It’s never out of date.”

Fabio Goldman · AI Transformation Team 26 August 2026
02 — Photograph vs window

A photograph, or a window?

Everything you make is one or the other. Most people have never noticed they're choosing.

An artifact built in chat — frozen the moment it was made

A doc you rebuild every Monday

For example The Q2 campaign recap deck. Accurate the Friday you built it, wrong by the following Tuesday.
Window

A live artifact built in Cowork that re-reads the sheet when you open it

For example The campaign tracker you open every Monday at 9. Same page, this morning's numbers.

Same frame, new view every time you look.

You don't need to update a window.

03 — What it is

So what is an ARTIFACT?

A saved page inside Cowork that re-pulls your data every time you open it.

Two kinds get called artifacts. Only one of them re-reads.
Where it lives
Its data
Handing it over
Its history
In chat
Inside the chat that made it. You go hunting.
Frozen at whatever the last fetch pulled. It only changes if you ask the chat to re-pull.
Shareable — and what they get stays frozen.
Whatever's left in the thread.
In Cowork (live)
Its own Artifacts tab, as a file on your Mac. Labelled "Cowork".
Re-reads your connected apps every time you open it.
Shareable across Wix. Their copy updates when yours does.
Every edit saves the one before. Compare them. Restore one.

Either one can be published to a claude.ai link — and a published copy never re-reads. That's the one people build by accident.

04 — Where they live

Two ways to make one
WAY 1 Just ask, inside any Cowork task. !Check what you got. If it isn't labelled Cowork, it won't re-read.
WAY 2 PICK THE TYPE YOURSELF
Artifacts → New artifact → Create Cowork artifact. and let Claude interview you.
One thing that isn't optional This only works in the right organisation. Check the account menu before you blame the feature — if the live-artifact option isn't there, Claude will tell you it can't build one, and it's telling the truth.
05 — Three questions

3 questions before you build one.

This is not a prompt. It's a thinking frame. Answer these out loud and the artifact describes itself.

START
1 What should this show me the moment I open it?
"Every live campaign, biggest gap first."
"Everything about our marketing."
2 Where does that data live? Name the sheet, the channel, the tool.
"The sheet called Q3 Campaign Master."
"It's somewhere in Drive."
3 What decision does it help me make?
"Which campaign I move budget to on Monday."
"Good to keep an eye on it."

Building a Campaign Tracker

Move a campaign tracker somebody maintains by hand - to a live Artifact, in three steps.

STEP 1 Paste the request

Build a live artifact called Weekly Campaign Tracker.

Read from: the Google Sheet "[YOUR SHEET]", tab "[YOUR TAB]", through the Google Sheets connector. Read-only — never write anything back.

Hard rule: no numbers baked into the page. Every value must come from reading the sheet at the moment I open it.

Definitions: Budget is the target, Spend to date is the actual, the gap is the difference as a percentage of Budget. "Behind" means any campaign under Budget — not only the ones past the 10% line.

Show me three numbers across the top — total spend, how many campaigns, how many are behind. Then one row per campaign whose Status is Live, sorted biggest gap first, with anything more than 10% under target flagged red. At the bottom, the time it read the sheet.

Keep it readable on a laptop without scrolling to find the problem.

* fill in the two bracketed bits, then paste it into Artifacts → New artifact
STEP 2 You get a page
SPEND
$412k
CAMPAIGNS
14
BEHIND
3
CAMPAIGNTARGETGAP
Wix Studio ADS$90k−18%
Harmony ADS$60k−12%
Symphony ADS$45k−3%
STEP 3 Close it Change one number in the sheet Open it again It re-read the sheet when you opened it.

Adjusting a Live Artifact

Three sentences. Each one changes the page and saves a version.

SAY 1 "Only campaigns that are actually running." Four September launches drop out. 14 rows become the 10 live ones.
SAY 2 "Add spend to date and ROAS." Two new columns from the same sheet — $412k spent, 3.1x blended.
SAY 3 "Flag anything beating target in green." wix.com and Wix Studio go green. The winners find you.
And then — version history Every sentence saved a version. Then one ask too many coloured every row — so put it back.

Sentence three: beating the 2.5x target in green. Two winners, instantly.

One ask too far — "red for under target too." Every row coloured.

willow

Creating a Live Artifact with a Willow tool.

Session #4 plugged Claude into Wix through Willow. An artifact can use those same tools.

01
Get on the VPN, then connect Willow Without it the panel errors — the page still loads.
02
Name the table, not the dashboard "Pull from prod.promote.em_monthly_usage_by_vertical."
03
Say what to throw away "Exclude the month in progress." A part-month looks like a collapse.
04
Open it — that is the query Every open re-asks the warehouse. Not metered, but it hits production — point one at a paid API and you pay, quietly, several times a day.

09 — Sending it

Sending it to someone.

Three clicks, and two things nobody expects.

1 Artifact header → Share.
2 Only people in Wix Enterprise can open it. No public link, no recipient picker. You can't leak it by accident.
3 A claude:// link that opens in their desktop app — not a web page.
It keeps itself current for them Automatically share updates is on by default. Reshape your artifact next week and their copy follows. You don't re-send anything.
It runs on their access, not yours When a colleague opens it, it connects to their connectors. If they can't reach the sheet, that panel errors and the rest of the page still loads. So “it's broken for me” isn't a bug — it's a permissions answer.

Unsharing kills the link. Sharing again makes a new one.

11 — Four traps

Four things that actually bite.

None of them are reasons not to build one. All of them are reasons to build it a certain way.

1

It uses your connectors without asking

You approve them once when you build it. After that it just uses them, even in modes that would normally stop and check with you.

DO Build with read-only access. Think hard before you give one tools that can change things.
2

It lives on your laptop

It's a file on your laptop. New machine and it's gone, with nothing to migrate.

DO Keep the request that built it. That's your backup and your only way to share.
3

You might not have built the live one

Asking for an artifact can get you a published page that never re-reads. It looks identical. It just quietly never changes.

DO Check it's labelled Cowork. Or use Artifacts → New artifact → Create Cowork artifact.
4

The dashboard nobody opens

If it doesn't change a decision, it's a screensaver with numbers on it.

DO Name the decision before you build. If there is none, skip it.
12 — Recap + close
Three things to try today

1  Name the one report you rebuild by hand. That's your first artifact.

2  Build it badly, in ten minutes. Then talk it into shape.

3  Next time, open it instead of rebuilding it.
